Cornelius is a Senior Associate with the Balanced Scorecard Institute and Balanced Scorecard Australia. He is a skilled international development professional with more than 10 years’ experience in supporting institutions to develop effective strategy execution capacity. He is distinguished for leading the successful implementation of an integrated strategy and performance management system with World Vision Southern Africa across nine Country Offices (Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe). This was a full cycle Balanced Scorecard implementation covering strategic assessment, strategy validation, strategic objectives, strategy mapping, strategic measures, initiatives, automation, cascading, and ongoing performance analysis and reporting. The project has since been documented as a successful case study with learning shared across World Vision offices globally.
Cornelius has also facilitated Balanced Scorecard training and implementation in more than 20 Government of Botswana departments and public entities; supporting them to embed a clearly measurable strategic framework that seamlessly links with departmental and employee annual performance plans (APPs). The Botswana Government intervention is a well referenced case study of how the Balanced Scorecard has helped to improve Whole of Government performance.
Cornelius has recently relocated to Australia to become part of the Balanced Scorecard Australia team working across Australia and SE Asia.
Cornelius is a certified PRINCE2 Practitioner and a qualified evaluator. These competencies complement his strategy execution capabilities in terms of helping clients identify the right choices and numbers of measures and strategic initiatives/projects. In addition, he has a strong organizational development (OD) background which gives him the ability to successfully manage change during strategy implementation.
Strong strategic human resources management experience also gives Cornelius the special ability to facilitate Tier 2 Human Resources Scorecards and more importantly, Tier 3 scorecards which have the potential to be a “last mile problem” in strategy execution if not skillfully handled.
He has a Bachelor's degree in Politics and Administration, MSc in Strategic Planning, an MBA and a postgraduate diploma in Human Resources Management.
