Balanced Scorecard Professional Certification Series

The Professional Certification Series courses offer broad instruction on the development and implementation of a balanced scorecard. Participants can build their knowledge of best practices by first taking the Part 1: Introduction course and then later adding the Part 2: Advanced course, or build it all at one time via a five-day Boot Camp.  Each of the  courses can be used as a stepping stone to the Institute’s heralded Master Professional Certification, the most intensive and comprehensive balanced scorecard certification program available.

 

BSP Professional Certification Part 1: Introduction to the Balanced Scorecard

The Balanced Scorecard Professinal Certification Pt. 1 course introduces participants to the Nine Steps to SuccessTM balanced scorecard development methodology. Participants learn how to build and implement a balanced scorecard for any commercial, government or nonprofit organization with a practical step-by-step approach. As Part 1 of the Balanced Scorecard Professional (BSP) Certification, offered in association with The George Washington University College of Professional Studies, this course is a practical, "hands-on" workshop that covers best practices, case studies, exercises, lessons-learned, real-life examples and expert facilitation practices. BSP Professional Certification Part 2: Advanced Balanced Scorecard

Course 401 - 2 Days

This course covers our Nine Steps to SuccessTM balanced scorecard methodology, but goes much deeper than the Part 1 course, providing more tools and techniques to help managers and analysts build, deploy, and sustain a scorecard system in their organization. The BSP Certification Pt. 1: Introduction to the Balanced Scorecard is required before taking this course, as this course builds on that introductory knowledge by focusing on common scorecard development difficulties and nuances found in real world organizations that have implemented the Nine Step framework. This course provides a quick review of basic scorecard building steps, adds advanced building techniques, and goes in depth with cascading a scorecard system throughout an organization and evaluating the impact of the scorecard system and making corrections. Balanced Scorecard Professional (BSP) Certification Boot Camp

The original Balanced Scorecard Boot Camp!  This course combines the material in the BSP Certification Pt. 1: Introduction to the Balanced Scorecard and the BSP Certification Pt. 2: Advanced Balanced Scorecard courses into a single, 5-day course and meets the course requirements for Balanced Scorecard Professional Certification offered by the Institute through its association with George Washington University (exam completion required). Beginning with the foundational Nine-Step process covered in the Part 1 course and then continuing into the real life nuances and complications addressed in the Part 2 course, this course covers the entire range of balanced scorecard topics - organization development, change management and communications planning, strategic planning, objectives and strategy mapping, performance measures and target setting, strategic initiative prioritization, automation, cascading, and strategic management - in one week. Fully consistent with basic balanced scorecard concepts & terminology developed by Kaplan & Norton, the course covers scorecard development in business, government, and non-profit organizations. Balanced Scorecard Master Professional (BSMP) Certification Application Course

The Balanced Scorecard Master Professional (BSMP) certification, offered in association with the George Washington University College of Professional Studies, is a comprehensive program on leading a balanced scorecard planning and management system implementation. This Application course offers students of the Institute's public workshops a way to "upgrade" their work to full BSMP certification.  The program is ideal for participants charged with building, implementing, managing, and sustaining balanced scorecard planning and management systems.  It was developed for members of internal balanced scorecard teams who want to learn how to build, deploy, and sustain scorecard systems, and for anyone who wants to incorporate lessons learned and best practices into the development of a strategic management system.  Completion of the Balanced Scorecard Professional certification is required before registration for Course 520 will be approved.

This E-Learning course is a brief, high-level introduction to the balanced scorecard. Delivered entirely over the internet in an interactive fashion in about 45 minutes, this course is designed for executives and managers to develop a basic understanding of how a balanced scorecard system works, what the benefits and costs are to develop and implement the system, the steps needed to develop the system, and what challenges exist to institutionalize the system.  Also a great tool for organizations that already utilize a balanced scorecard to train new employees in balanced scorecard terminology and how use an existing system.  A high speed internet connection and an up-to-date web browser that will play common Flash files is recommended.

Developing Meaningful Performance Measures for Business & Government

Performance measures are a key output from a balanced scorecard system. This course provides essential guidance and allows participants to practice developing meaningful strategic and operational performance measures for balanced scorecard systems.
