Executive commitment
Clearly one of the great challenges is getting and keeping the interest and commitment of the executive / senior management team in the change effort required leveraging a strategic planning and management system.  What are some of your thoughts and challenges in this area? If you are just now embarking on the BSC journey, what are your concerns with regards to managing the change?  If you are well on your way, what lessons learned do you have to share?

Re: Executive commitment

From my experience, I think one of the biggest challenge in Change Management is Open & Honest communication. The Management may be committed to change management, but to make it work, it needs to consistently communicate and seek feedback from various parts of org to ensure an effective change on an ongoing basis

Re: Executive commitment

A few suggestions for keeping the interactive communications flowing among leaders, managers, and other employees:
Use the strategy map as the "here is our strategy" message....get folks talking about where the work they do "fits" on the strategy map.
Hold review meetings around strategic objectives, to build the concept of "strategy ownership".
Measure performance of all strategic objectives, and display actual performance against targets visually and in a transparent manner, so employees can see progress and problems.
Hold brown bag lunches among leaders and other employees, so honest and open communications can take place.
Make results and team-building the focus of communications efforts
